THE A.I. DUPONT TIGER JAZZ BAND

The A.I. duPont Tiger Jazz Band is a premiere jazz ensemble. They have received ratings of superior (the highest score you can get) at countless music festivals all over North America . From as close to home as Washington DC and Virginia Beach , to as far away as Montreal and Toronto , the Tiger Jazz Band has earned quite a reputation.
Jazz band is an actual class that meets during the day, just like any other academic class. It consists mainly of band students who are in their junior or senior year of school. Students who participate in jazz band must also be in senior band. Exceptions may be made for rhythm section players who don't play a traditional band instrument, such as electric bass, guitar, and piano players.
Like the marching band, the jazz band is a student-led organization in which the students share ownership of the ensemble. They vote on potential soloists, take part in music arranging, and even elect a music committee that selects the music they will perform when it comes time for the music festival! Whether it's swing, latin, blues, rock, or funk, the students at A.I. really make the music fun! The ensemble typically consists of, but is not limited to, the following musicians:
