Tiger Band Alumni Newsletter - Fall Issue

Dear Band Alumni:

If you have the opportunity to visit your Alma Mater this year, and I hope you do!, you will see BIG changes taking place at “Old Alexis”.  Our new football stadium is awesome; a new science wing on the north end of the building is near completion, the library doubled in size, a refurbished auditorium in the works and a new Principal, Mr. Sam Golder, who hails from Annapolis , Maryland . In short, all is well!

In the meantime, some things remain ever the same…. School lunches… great students, the wonderful parent volunteers who make it all work [Like Mona Laughlin who publishes this newsletter] and the 2006 edition of THE TIGER MARCHING BAND.

I am hugely flattered - and a little alarmed - that I now have a number of band kids whose parents were in our band! Likewise, the Assistant Director is an A.I. alum and former band member, Rich Weaver, along with Lindsay Taylor, drama teacher and new Band Front Advisor, also an A.I./Band alumnus. Brad Billet continues as our famous “Voice of the Band” announcer and Judy (Skinner) Powers has taken an advisory role, now that she and her husband Kevin have two lovely children and a full-time job.

For those of you who were able to be at the 30 Year Celebration last Spring, it was so wonderful to see you again… and if you weren't able to be there… I would love to hear from you. Just drop me a line at pparets@aol.com .

As you may have heard me say, once or a dozen times, life is memory... We are what we recall. Once again, I thank you for making my life rich beyond measure with a treasure chest of memories.

Love,

Mr. P
